Lake Villa is a small village in the northeastern corner of Illinois. It is 50 miles north of downtown Chicago and 10 miles south of the Wisconsin state border. According to the United States Census Bureau, the population of Lake Villa was approximately 8,716 in 2017. Lake Villa is considered to be among the larger villages in Lake County. 

Lake Villa began as a railway stop along the Wisconsin Central Railroad line. By the turn of the 20th century, Lake Villa became an incorporated municipality.
