Northbrook is a village and suburb in northeastern Illinois. It is 25 miles north of downtown Chicago and 25 miles south of the Wisconsin state border. According to the United States Census Bureau, Northbrook has a population of approximately 33,400 people as of 2017. Northbrook is among the larger villages in Cook County. 

Individuals who visit Northbrook will discover a village originally known as Shermerville. The name was changed to Northbrook in 1923, about twenty years after it became an incorporated municipality.
